Chester M.F. Peters papers, 1946-1969.

The collection contains subject folders on the Yuba River Development which is the bulk of the collection. Other projects documented include: Project Gnome involving the National Potash Company, U.S. Borax & Chemical Corporation, and Potash Company of America among others. Maps and drawings and various printed materials and clippings in the collection all relate to U.S. projects and the later part of Peters' career. There are photographs of drill cores and other mining reports on uranium mines in some of the Rocky Mountain states along with accompanying drawings. Offering circulars of corporations involved in uranium mining, 1954-1955, are included.

Chester Millard Ferguson Peters (1912- ) was a mining geologist and consultant working for Behre Dolbear Brown Engineers and local and foreign governments. He began his career in the Philippines, 1934-1940, where he worked in mining, petroleum, and coal operations. In the 1940s he worked for the U.S. military. After World War II he worked in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatamala, primarily in mining. In the 1950s he returned to the San Francisco area as a consultant, with a year spent in Burma, 1...
